Happy Monday! (Quite possibly the most annoying saying in the entire world!)
How was your weekend? I had the pleasure of going to a book signing with the talented, incredibly funny Jackie Hennessey, author of How to Spread Sanity on a Cracker. It was the third time I met Jackie but the first time I got my hands on her book. All I can say is forget about NSFW… this book is NSFL (not safe for libraries) or any other place where you’re supposed to be quite and reserved. Fortunately for me (and all of her readers) Jackie is easy going, witty, and quick to laugh. I didn’t have to worry when I blurted out an inappropriately timed yet quickly muffled laugh during her reading. She was reading the introduction, the one part of the book that’s not belly hurting funny. In typical A.D.D. impatient fashion, I’d skipped ahead to one of the confessional stories of the book. This five line story was enough to grab me – hook, line and whine – if you will.
Jackie’s book is part confessional, not only from her but from other real life moms and their mommy brain moments. As a mom, it just made me feel “normal” – like I’m not the only one dealing with mommy brain or feeling at my wits end some days. Additionally, it contains awesome recipes. There were a few dips to try at the book signing (YUM) and now I’m dying to make my new favorite – figgy cheese (pg. 54 yo!).
If you haven’t read this book and you need or want a laugh (who doesn’t) – you need to check it out. Jackie is just like the rest of us – adores her kids but craves her own time – time with friends to whine and well… cheese!
Now – on to today’s Mommy Brain Monday vid. This video is sure to make you laugh! Even if you’re one of the 3M viewers who’ve already watched it (or is it more like 1M peeps who just can’t get enough of this beat spittin’ mama?) – you need to check it out. I don’t even want to tell you that it’s an advert… because then you might not want to watch. I watched it the first time and I didn’t even notice it was an ad. Do yourself a favor & check out the video below.

Oh, those mommy brain moments when we truly doubt our sanity! Glad you had a great time at the book signing, and yes, that video is absolutely awesome!! Great for a few minutes of laughter amidst the insanity of the day for sure.

OMG, I LOVE that video! I’ve seen it around but have never taken the time to watch it, thank you for sharing!!
Thanks so much, Alicia! You are hilarious. It was so fun seeing you and I’m glad you skipped ahead and giggled. (Yes, it was very ADD of you, and something I would totally do too!) It shows that you are in need of some mommy sanity time. That recipe for figgy cheese dip is one of my favorites! It’s from a talented and kind lady, Barrie Lynn, The Cheese Impressario. http://www.thecheeseimpresario.com/Home/tabid/504/Default.aspx And the video, I have seen it before and I was almost in tears. I had no idea it was an ad! I’m SUCH a marketer’s dream!
Thanks again for sharing, Alicia!
I think lack of sleep means I will have “Mommy Brain” until my kids move out! So funny!
It’s appropriate time to make some plans for the long run and it’s time
